Physioworks Health Group Physiotherapist Amy Shipperd recently supported the Australian Tennis team as physiotherapist at the INAS Global Games.
The INAS Global Games is a world-class sporting competition for elite athletes with an intellectual impairment that represents the peak of sporting achievement. The INAS Global Games were held in Brisbane in October, where athletes competed, succeeded and continue to prove that intellectual impairment is no barrier.
Like the Olympics, the INAS Global Games are held every 4 years; and in Brisbane over 1000 athletes competed from 50 countries across 10 sports.
Physiotherapist Amy Shipperd supported the Australian tennis team by managing their warm ups programs, providing injury assessments, treatments and taping as required, and running the post training/match recovery sessions in the pool.
The Australian Tennis team won 4 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals across the games with Amy reporting no serious injuries! And the Australian team topped the overall Games Medal table.
