After the extended lockdown period, Physioworks Exercise Physiologist Megan Jepson hit the hiking trails recently with a group of Physioworks clients and staff.
“It was great to out on the trails and really nice to get amongst the trees again!” said Megan. “This first walk back was to slowly ease all back into some of the rigours of hiking. After such a long layoff, with less activity for all, it’s really important not to overdo it initially; to rebuild our walking fitness base and prevent injury” added Megan.
The hike in Dandenong Ranges was the first in a series of training sessions as the group resumes preparation for their Kokoda Trek in October 2021. The trek had been planned for late 2020 but was delayed due to the pandemic.
The 2021 Kokoda Trek adventure will be led & managed by Ian Lumb of On Track Expeditions. Megan, who will be on the expedition as a fellow participant, is assisting a group of Physioworks clients in the training & preparation for the trek, including group walks/hikes to ensure the very best pre-trip preparation.
