An Exercise Physiologist is a university qualified allied health practitioner in the field of exercise rehabilitation.
Physioworks Health Group Exercise Physiologists have expertise in the delivery of exercise programmes; from elite athletes to those who suffer a range of chronic diseases and injuries such as diabetes, obesity, arthritis and cardiovascular disease.
The team of Exercise Physiologists at Physioworks Camberwell, Brooke DeHey, Jude Hawavasam and Megan Jepson conduct exercise assessments, group exercise classes and one-on-one exercise sessions and also run a dedicated Type 2 Diabetes Exercise Group.
Exercise Physiology hours at Physioworks Camberwell (as at October 2016):
- Jude Hewavasam consults on Monday 5.30pm-8pm.
- Brooke DeHey consults on Wednesday 12.30pm-3.30pm & Friday 9.30am-12pm.
- Megan Jepson consults on Friday 1.30pm-4.30pm.
- EP Group Training classes: Monday evening 7pm-8pm & Friday morning 10am-11am

Medicare will fund Exercise Physiology for clients with certain chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and arthritis under the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Programme. Please speak to your GP regarding a referral.
The following Exercise Physiology services are available at Physioworks Camberwell:
Medicare- Enhanced Primary Care Program:
45 minute exercise assessment/sessions tailored to the ability of each individual.
Medicare-Type 2 Diabetes Incentive Program:
Funded through Medicare this program entitles patients with Type 2 diabetes to one initial one-on-one assessment, followed by 8 group exercise/educational classes. Patients are prescribed individualized programs & always supervised by an Exercise Physiologist.
Group Exercise Classes:
Following initial exercise assessment or at completion of patients’ EPC session’s patients can join group exercise classes with the guidance and ongoing expertise of an Exercise Physiologist (at every session). Patients with chronic medical conditions, post injury and/or those wanting to simply improve health, strength & fitness are all suitable for these classes. EP Group Training classes currently are held on Monday evening 7pm-8pm & Friday morning 10am-11am.
Private- Comprehensive Exercise Assessment:
60 minute comprehensive exercise assessment.
Private one-on-one Exercise Sessions:
For patients who prefer/require one-on-one individualized exercise sessions.
High Level Group Exercise Classes:
For higher functioning patients, specific running re-education/training, weight loss and high level fitness training.
