Stadium STOMP 2016

David Francis Stadium Stomp MCG 2016

We practice what we preach at Physioworks Health Group, and on a bright Sunday in late June a group of Physioworks staff and clients proved it by taking part in Stadium STOMP at the MCG.

Stadium STOMP is Australia’s largest consecutive stair climbing challenge, with fundraising for charity as a great aim to help make every step count.

Physioworks team organiser Kate Membrey, recalls a day of anticipation, fun, exercise and extreme satisfaction in raising funds for Headspace, supporting Youth Mental Health and Well-being:

“At 0830am Physioworks Health Group Directors David and Sue Francis, along with their daughter Emily, took on the full course of over 7340 stairs, stomping up, down and around Level 1 of the MCG and then running up to Level 4 showing their strength up, down and around the bays on Level 4.

Feeling the adrenalin rush, the call went out to other members of our group advising the stomp was HARD but so much fun! The sense was that a new annual exercise event tradition for Physioworks Health Group was being established.

12.30pm and the next wave of Physioworks employees and clients took on the full course. Led by our Exercise Physiologist’s Brooke DeHey and Megan Jepson, joined by clients Sue, Tracy, Steve, Stacey and Jake, all started off positively and enthusiastically. Half way through the pain kicked in, but strong team encouragement ensured all ended strongly – and extremely satisfied.

12.45pm was the final wave for the half course of 1890 stairs. Physioworks Pakenham receptionist Nicole Hopkins encouraged her friend Sarah, followed by Physioworks Camberwell receptionist Fiona Reid teaming with Helene and Kelly from the Physioworks Cranbourne Exercise Physiology fitness class. My-self and Physioworks Physiotherapist Stuart Wishart bought up the rear. My goal was not be the last person stomping – and I wasn’t – and while we didn’t run, we still powered through each step.

What a great challenge and I’m ready to do it all again!! The pain was “good” pain, completely worth it for the exercise and fitness benefits and the fundraising outcomes.

Our final fundraising total was $980.00.  Our team would like to thank staff, family, friends and clients who helped us raise these much needed funds for HeadSpace.  I would also like to personally thank all the Physioworks team who took the challenge in joining me to STOMP the MCG. And I welcome more to join the Physioworks STOMP team for 2017”.
